About Dr. Hammond

Dr. Joseph Hammond received his undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky and his Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry. Dr. Hammond started working at VisionFirst in high school as an Optometric Technician and an optician before pursuing his career in Optometry. Dr. Hammond practices full-scope optometric care, ranging from comprehensive eye exams to advanced Laser procedures for secondary cataract removal and glaucoma. He also has expertise in diagnosing and treating ocular diseases, including the most up-to-date techniques for dry eye treatment. Dr. Hammond also fits all major brands of contact lenses, including contacts for astigmatism and multifocal wearers.

Dr. Hammond is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Kentucky Optometric Association. Serving on the Board of Trustees for the Kentucky Optometric Association, Dr. Hammond has been a passionate advocate for his profession and his patients both at the State and National levels. He served as President of the Kentucky Optometric Association from 2023 to 2024.

In his spare time, Dr. Hammond enjoys music, the outdoors, and spending time with his wife and two children.
